How to deal with BMW NA?
I will try to make this as short and to the point as possible. I called BMW NA about my seat heater getting very hot in one spot on my 04. The case manager said that this was a problem in the past and I should get a diagnostic. I told him that I didn't want to get stuck with a $200 diagnostic fee if they weren't going to pay for it. He said if that was the problem then they would pick up the diagnostic charge. I got the diagnostic done they said there was a problem with the bottom and back. After speaking with the rep from BMW NA he told me they would pay for the parts not labor any they wouldn't pay for the diagnostic. I told him that I was pissed and all that he said was "unfortunatley that is all they are willing to pay for". I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck with speaking to a supervisor or will I be wasting my time??

There was a seat heater recall back in 2004 -- if your car falls under the ones that were recalled, I don't see why you should have to pay anything at all...

Thats what I said but they said that the parts were all that they would cover.
1. Ask the BMWNA rep to give you the decision in writing.
2. File a complaint with the NHTSA ... https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/Complaint.cfm
3. Send copies of both letters to each of the other parties ...
4. Wait 2 weeks
I suspect you will get your seat correctly repaired at no cost to you.

I'm surprised to hear this about BMW NA. I would guess that this would be more in line with what GM would do than BMW. I guess globalization is reaching customer service, too.
