Hi - Im ordering an e60 as a surprise for my wife in black/aubrun. Yesterday she came home telling me how she saw an afwul 330 in terra and how bad that color is - how close is terra to auburn? Ive seen pictures of the 2 side-by-side but not in real person ;(.

I've been in a 3 series with terra and a 5 with auburn. I don't think the terra takes on that same 'orangey-reddish' tone as much as the auburn does. I personally like both, but I like the terra more. However, if she doesn't like the terra she may not like the auburn either. I would actually think the terra may appeal to a wider group than the auburn.

Does she like tan or black interiors? Maybe that's a safer route. Maybe you can somehow get her to see the auburn in person w/o giving away the surprise.

my buddy just got his e90 in terra with sapphire black. it is stunning.
i personally think an auburn / black e60 is the most beautiful combo.
if your wife is not into the terra interior, i doubt the auburn will be her taste.
it will be safer to go with tan/ monaco blue, it is rather 'safe'.

 

i have sapphire/auburn and LOVE it ... do not regret it at all. the two-tone interior is great.
auburn is more 'orangey' than terra...ie; lighter, brighter.

Like others have said, Auburn is more orange than Terra, Terra seems more brownish.

I don't like Terra that much, but I love Auburn.

Auburn looks more exotic, more like some Aston Martin or Ferrari interiors. I've gotten lots of compliements on mine from ppl who own such high end cars. However, it seems the ppl who are not into cars might not appreciate Auburn because they're only aware of the usual black and greys.

 

I happen to see the 2 colors in the same showroom parked next to each other.

Must admit that auburn just is nicer with the orange tint. Terra leans more towards ordinary brown (o ooh, now I get part of the E90 community all over me)

I have jet/black with auburn and anthracite. I LOVE IT and so does EVERYONE that sees it. This color reminds you of fine Italian leather shoes, from what I saw on speed channel, BMW sends women to the best shopping districts in the world to go shopping for interior colors, and this is definitely one of them!!!

 

I second that. Nothing but compliments. I am on my second Auburn E60 (this time I got your combo EBMC... if you remember early last year I kept asking you how you got the SG w/Auburn combo. At that time I went with Sapphire/Auburn on the 545, but I went with your combo on the 550).
