How can I cancel a navigation ?
I go into the address book and choose a destination (or enter one manually) and then some time on the route I decide I don't want navigation instructions any more. How can I cancel the navigation completely? I didn't use the navi much back at home in Germany, so this never bothered me much, but now I'm away from home and using the navi several times per day, it's quite annoying not being able to cancel a navigation. I've been through every menu I can think of.
Voice Command, Beep - Say A Command, say Navigation, Navigation-Beep, say Stop Guidance, Guidance Stopped :-)
Or alternatively: select Nav, down, select address, press iDrive, select Stop Guidance.

Next to the map on the left hand vertical menu one of the options will turn the Guidance off.

Is there no equivalent in the menus ? My voice command is in German and I don't have the list of commands here with me while I'm away from home.

while your in navi screen highlight the address you inputed and press down on the idrive. once the menu appears you should see a few choices one being 'start guidance', it should have a check mark next to it. press idrive again and the check mark will disappear which deselects (unchecks) and stops guidance. you can reselect and start guidance by highlighting the address and pressing the idrive button again which gives you the option to start guidance again. hope this helps
They certainly didn't make it too easy ;-)

Or Guidance Off.
You do that the top of the range Navigation but you have the bottom of the pile software. The E60s were introduced without the menu on the map screen but then shortly afterwards that menu was introduced via a software update. Seems like you need one.

I just found a PDF showing the German equivalent of guidance off ("Navigationshinweis Aus") :-)
