hi,
I don't know if this will interest you, but I heard from a reliable source (manager at Munich headquarters) that there will be NO FWD (X-drive) on current model 8-cylinder 5-series.
He admitted that this means a mayor drawback agaist Audi and Merc, especially on the US market, and they would, from a marketing viewpoint, love to offer it.

eh-eh.....not even optional
you must be a BMW newbe if even the thought crosses your mind that they would offer it as a standard feature; i am frightened of the day that they will start charging extra for the doors or the sparkplugs

Yea--unless it is optional. I wouldn't not want it on my 545i.
soon you might not have a choice Znod
![Think](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/think.gif)
to be introducing permanent AWD on all the 7 series, and this will
filter to the top of the range 5 series sooner or later ... Around 2011
though

bmw going the audi way ?? i dont know if i like the idea. The 7 series- ok its a limousine and should be safe not fun, but introducing this across the entire range would be silly
