Ever had some stupid minivan driver in front of you that was driving like, well, a stupid minivan driver?
Well today there was one in front of me and he (probably "she") pulled to the right into a shopping mall but didn't go into the right turn lane completey and was sill half way in my lane. So I put my horn to use but realized it was WAY too quiet to get my point across.

A friend of mine has a F-250 and he installed a train horn on the underside. I am pretty sure that's illegal and I am not looking for THAT loud of a horn. Just something that will let people know that they are idiot drivers/make sure they don't cause an accident.

Thanks

Your horn may be louder outside than it sounds inside you well-insulated BMW.

Besides, that other driver probably wouldn't notice you unless you threw a stick of dynamite on his hood Did you ever notice that some drivers don't seem to notice emergency vehicles with their lights and sirens on until they're practically on top of them!

I sometimes think that others like to ignore drivers of high-line cars -- instead of being in admiration of what we're driving.

Just be thankful you weren't driving a motorcycle.

Mine's pretty loud. I do think it's the insulated inside that we don't hear it that well. Try with the windows down and see...

My 06 550's horn was loud and produced the type of sound that would startle you. But my 08 M5's horn sounds wimpy and cheap. Nowhere near as loud as my old 550's. Reminds me of the horn off my aunt's 88 Chevy Corsica. Even my 92 Accord's horn sounds more promiment vs. my M5. Any M5 owners have the 'weak' sounding horn? Instead of the wimpy horn, I'd rather stick the SMG into N to give the V10 a quick high rev so the Dinan exhaust can loudly announce my presence to a not-so-attentive driver.

Actually, BMW of Germany did extensive lab testing before coming out with the appropriate decibel volume for their horns. Do you know what their research uncovered?

BMW's don't need loud horns to get people's attention because...well, we drive BMW's!
