I just finished installing black kidney grille for my car. I had to take the metal plate covering the radiator out at first and I put everything back in perfect order, no damage, not even a single scratch. I checked to make sure every nut and bolt is tight. however, when I close the hood, there seems to be about half an inch opening between the hood and drivers side taillights. Passanger side is totally fine. What has gone wrong?? Anyone experienced this before? Anything I missed out? Don;t want to bring car to dealer yet because its expensive...

Yes I did that. First I closed the hood nice and easy by slightly touching the hood and let it close by itself which dod not work. then I slammed it from a foot's height and di dnot work as well. I got mad and pushed it hard. Well, i am in my garage now and thank god there was no dent. :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: h

if not remove the plastic cover and turn the catch CCW to lower a notch of two and tried again. Adjust them till you satisfied with the gaps. Also check the catch lock to see if they are on open position just like those on the door. Hope this help! |
I know it sounds daft but have you left any tools or screws under there?
You probably know this already but there are "2" hood latches; one on the right and one on the left. In addition, the front hood on the hood. Open and reclose from 6 in to 1 foot drop should fix it. |
First do your catches work? Check by trying to lock them with a screw driver... BE sure to release them again after they lock else if you try to close your hood like that you'll be in a world of a suprise...
If they both lock then try adjusting the D latches... on the hood... by unscrewing the black cover and then turing the D latches counter clockwise to make them stick out more. http://forums.e60.net/uploads/post-937-1123028268.jpg http://forums.e60.net/uploads/post-937-1123028316.jpg |
There's some problem with this new hood design and I think BMW know about it already so they ask you did you temper with the hood if you did you are going to pay for it for sure. When I was in the dealer checking the car out before buying the one on display did not close properly either and the salesman just pop the hood and drop it down hard and I mean hard. Then the hood pop back into place. That's why I don't buy demos or display car
