BMW 5 Series: EU6 emission standard for Sedan and Touring with diesel engine and more favourable type classification for a range of models.
In order to optimise exhaust gas quality, the diesel models BMW 520d and BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition can also be ordered with BMW BluePerformance Technology from spring 2012. The additional NOx catalyst storage significantly reduces nitrogen oxides, so the vehicles in question already meet all the requirements of the EU6 emission standard which will apply from 2014.

What is more, the 5 Series Sedan benefits from a new type classification for fully comprehensive insurance. Since October 1st 2011 the BMW 523i, BMW 535i, BMW 520d and BMW 530d have been moved down to a more favourable class, which has a positive impact in terms of insurance premiums. There are no changes for the BMW 528i and BMW 550i.
Can we import 5 series diesel now? I thought EU6 diesel cars is allowed on HK road?

Deriffic,

Searched below message for you reference. Pss9 seem can rebuild.
It is a 125 per shock to rebuild - I believe - no idea what kind of warranty after a rebuild - and I would rebuild them before installing them.

I asked Mr kwok on this and they not planning to import the D into HK, it cost too much to run.
The trend is hybrid & electric cars this is why BMW are planning loads of iCars these few years.

Am skeptical abt elec cars in hk, hot climat + air con + traffic jams + lack of charging facilities in residential car parks is not a good combination.

Thanks for information. Seems a little complicated as I don't know the turn-around time. Also, it is my daily-driver and so I will need replacement while being rebuilt. Price is reasonable though.

How abt just get a new set (I imagine the others probably will start to leak soon) for urself, send off the old set for rebuild then sell them off to some lucky person.

Did you change any thing back on your car to get the pass?
