Think everyone here know the BMW engine is burning oil!:confused
My is done 11,800 Km and booked first service of oil change next week!
But end up I finally have to add 1 L oil after the warning signal coming out today.
What's your oil status?

PS: I called the BMW technician and he told me the oil better should be 0-40.
But I just can't find this when I driving at the middle of the high way to GZ.
So I added 5-40 instead. Would it any difference?
wow you only had the car just more than half year and oil change already
I just had my change last month over19 months and they say I burn 0.5L oil.
I used racing stuff before 0-30 and the car is much smoother and quiter.

I think no big deal if just to refill and change soon after but beware these new bmw engines are high tech and v well machined and they can be v fussy abt the oil used.

What a magic BMW conjured, by combine the two-stroke engine to our 4 stroke?
I didn't research much into this topic since it seems to be normal for the new engines to burn some oil. What I read pre iously was that the manufacturing process of the BMW engine is so good these days, a thinner oil can be used (in the us is 0-30), so b4 all the piston rings got seated properly, it will consume some oil. Also in the us, if u don't use the recommended oil, the warranty will be void, apparently.
