I recalled there was a thread on this. interestingly, the n52 engine w valvetronics should make this butterfly valve redundant but it was retained for engine start up for some reason I believe. in fact if this could be removed completely, you would get better airflow all together.

The BMW M54 is a straight-6 engine, debuting in the year 2000?2006. It is an evolution of the BMW M52. The engine has Double VANOS variable valve timing to adjust timing of both intake and exhaust valves.
I feel interesting about the Valvetronic system, I found my cabin silence like Lexus during at stop light.

talk about others but what about the CAPTAIN???
if you studied and learnt Boyles Law, and Pythagoras trig' you must have learnt
SongBill Theorem:
stock with stock kit and stock wheels makes you a stock car=common
stock with m kit and m wheels makes you a non stock car=less common
just wanted to bring an old question up,
when are you getting new wheels???
