might be if he didnt, he would crash into the car in front, might be he thought the gti would brake to give room. but one thing for sure, the gti shouldnt be there in the first place.

Both drivers are stupid really, the E46 driver should give way to the Golf no matter who is right or wrong, as a result, you can see they all end up crashed their cars.
If you drive fast, you got to know what you can do and what you cant do, basically the video show some stupid drivers with no EQ and IQ
