if you what fast then you should not have got canon.
Nikon is much faster.
canon is good for taking portrait stuff, the colour is right.
even my 5D is not good for fast objets.
I may need to get nikon too if I go to F1 this year.
But saying this why are news ppl use canon more than nikon

a lot of people who got a collection of canon lens are not going to switch. still, some canon owners have switched camp. the more important factor is the trend. in fact, when I bought mine, the guy next to me was buying a nikon and made comment on why I chose canon which lacked in features by comparison. the problem with nikon is that they rely on sony for sensor and their stuff (at least not all) are not MIJ
I tried nikon of similar price range, it shakes more than the 40d. 40d is marketed as a mid range fast dslr which is what I wanted at the time but after owning it, I discovered its shortcomings. to be fair, if I am a v skilled photographer, the canon will be just as good if not better.
