Did you check whether the car was equipped with adaptive drive (aka dynamic drive)?

Are you serious? I wonder six-speed automatic transmission only.

yes very
save on fuel and much smoother change than our 6 speed.
this is why my 2.4l stepwgn can do $1.6 to a km on v power with 7 people in it all the time, it has 7 speed instend of 4 speed

given the traffic condition in hk and v little usage of highway for most of us, I just dont see how 8 speed gearbox can give much better fuel economy than 6 speed unless the engine has been tuned to have a v narrow band of efficiency (which I doubt) but I am an open minded kind and interested on the actual technical reasons on this.

why would a 8 speed give smoother change than 6 speed? the smoothest gearbpx ought to be CVT, it has no gear change at all.
