Tough choice... What are your thoughts
I have a 2004 545i 6spd manual and have been longing for the 03 e39M5. considering that I already have a 95 Euro M5 that I am babying and collecting.. would you recommend as a daily driver the 2004 545i or the 2003 M5. Which one makes more sense? I do admit a preference for the e39 body style.. but like newer and more modern "things"...

In my view, there's no comparison. The 545i is a very nice car, but the M5 - no matter if E34, E39 or E60 - is special.
However, as a daily driver, the 545i will lose you less money in maintenance and probably be a more practical car overall.

except the e60... Can't afford to buy it... it will trigger a war at home!!
. I must tell you after driving all previous generations of M5.. none gives me as much satisfaction and feedback as the 3,8 Euro M5..
. It has more personality and feels more real than the e28 or e39.

i can't feel sh*t in my e60 - not enough feedback and too isolated from the road.

Between those two... I'll go for the 2003 M5. Reason is because you're comparing it to a used E60. and especially a 2004. The resale value for a M5 is much higher than a used 545. If it was a 2005 or even a 2006 545 or 550 I would go for the E60.

If you like LeMans blue, I saw this one that seems pretty nice.

For $45K, I would take this any day over a 2004 545i.

its a tough choice...that said if you can find a mint e39 m5 with really low miles that has been pampered, I think the choice becomes MUCH easier. The challenge is finding one....a 4 year old car will more often than not be a little long in the tooth at this point.
If you find one though, hands down the mint e39 M5 should take your parking spot.
