The E60 is now my second vehicle that I have owned where I have not been able to get the homelink system to work with my garage door openers.. Anyone ever get these to work somehow? Seems like a waste..

Yes I got mine ti work. U have to read the manual and u have to read the manual for your garage door opener. But it does work it took me a couple of tries.

From what I read the easiest way is to call the manufacturer of the door opener. They seem to be the most helpful, see if they have a 800 number for help.

I have mine setup to control my garage doors and porch/garage lights. However like another guy said...you have to do it a few times it took several attempts.

And the biggest thing is to erase any codes in the system before you go trying to code it.

The newer garage doors have code jumping tech so from what I understand you code your car to the remote once then you code the car to the door opener.

Sounds simple enough but actually being able to do it is something else.

there's no big secret, you train the remote to the car, then press the learning button on the garage door opener, then run back to the car and press the homelink button you just trained THREE times until the door moves...I use it daily

I've connected my BMW, my wifes MB, and my sis-in-law's Nissan's factory installed garage door remotes with no problems whatsover.

No problems here. I even got it to work for the gates on the neighborhood, which I was told it wouldn't work on. I love it. No more openers anywhere in the car.
Like they said above, you have to train it to the car, then push the button on your garage door opener motor, then get back in the car and hit the homelink button. I actually just held the homelink down until the garage door shut, but I guess you can press it three times like mentioned above as well.
