I tried it on a 04/545i auto. I didn't notice any difference in shift patterns or 'smoother' transitions.
Maybe it's the placebo?

Sorry, but can someone clarify if im going about this correctly?

1. Put key in, then push the START button without foot on gas
2. Pedal to the floor (past kickback) for 25 seconds
3. Turn car completely off
4. Turn car on and start engine, then its all ready to go???

Im not too sure if im doing it right. However, at about 25 seconds the radio made a "static" sound even though volume was all the way down.

THanks for all the help

Hello everyone, I am sad to report that on my 550 with SMG, both the M5board tip and this do not help the shifting... I am guessing time to reprogram...

If you do this reset, it doesnt erase the remap settings does it???

Anyone know 100% for sure?
Had a DMS done about 12 months ago...recently was thinking that maybe the car had lost it...this tip carried out in the last 30 minutes and over a round trip of about 10 miles has proved to me that firstly it works and my DMS is certainly in full swing...WOW!! no BS, the gear changes were so well placed now that the car is back to full boar!!

Love tips that cost nowt and deliver loads..by the way I'm a key start and I did here a muffled sound after about 20 secs from behaind the centre console.

Thanks a load

I must be deaf, did not hear anything but kept throttle down for about one minute.

BUT, wow the shifting is already different and smoother.

My 2 cents, I tried this yesterday (2006 550i) and I really didn't notice any change... Perhaps a second test is required.
