I'm at 101k on an '04 that I bought at 69k. I've only replaced a thermostat and one ignition coil pack. I need do replace the plugs soon since I cracked 100k.

I've seen several high mile (100k+) v8 and m54 inline 6's on this thread. I wonder how the n52 will hold up as it ages...

AFAIK 5er V8s N62 are not supercharged (540/545/550). Those are classic engines - I'm not holding my breath but a classic V8 should age 300K+ miles no problem

Just hit the 100,000 miles on mine, although it had 78,000 when I bought it three years ago.

145k on my 07 525i. Only needed thermostat. Of course has had regular inspections. Runs like a charm! Been attempting to sell with adjustment to asking price to take into consideration the mileage and still no bites! Oh well...guess I will wait for that perfect buyer. In the meantime, I will drive this beauty with super gas mileage. Better than that 750il that kills on gas but boy do you love that v12!!!

When I bought my 03/2004 530d it had 53 tkm on clock. Now, after three years, just under 150 tkm.
Normal maintenance, plus:
- EGR and main thermostat
- one PDC sensor (actually I gues there was only contact problem)
- windshield (scratches)
- front shocks (those went totally dead in 145 tkm!)

Thats it. I'm amased about the quality. Very happy. There have been discussions about low ages for pads and rotors, but I still have the same which were changed in Niederlassung München when I bought the car.

I have an 04 525 that just hit 130,000 miles and I'm going crazy...I thought I was the only one that drove so much. My wife doesnt have a car right now and droves my baby like its a Toyota ( no offense) and it drives me crazy...Ive done a lot to it and hate having anyone drove it. Im about to change the oil pan gasket and get a full flush. Thank god for a friend whos a master tech for BMW and has his own shop...

You may be right, at least as far as the bottom end (crankshaft, pistons, etc) is concerned. My worry is VANOS failure. Fingers remained crossed til '12/'13 when I'll pick up an F10.

I've heard about VANOS failures but mostly on old ±1996-98 model years with about 250K miles. You should be safe
