The first control unit they changed was the one for the 'power-management' (according to my SA) and when they re-programmed it, it is asking them to replace the TCU
BMW NA has authorized the change so i'm getting a new TCU
. Is there anything i should watch out for when i pick up the car with the new TCU ?

So this sits in the car and feeds the battery juice whenever the car is asleep or is it always running irrespective of if the car is asleep or not?
And how difficult is it to install ? i might just get it just in case, sounds like a good thing to have although i would never have gotten to know about the faulty control module

Isn't the BMW charger the same as the Battery Tender brand? That's what I use when not driving the car a week or mo (hardly ever happens!

+1. Just make sure it's a trickle charger (ie the one that shuts off when it's fully charged). these are readily available at any auto parts store. No need to pay $50-$60 at the BMW dealer. I have one that was $20-$25.

even parking them for 5 or 6 days can result in a "slow" start.
I only drive my 5er once every 2-3 weeks during the nicer months (May - Oct) and I've never had a problem like this (knock on wood).
