Does anyone know what spec is the amplifier that you get in the HiFi system?

The HiFi system is optional on UK cars but i think its standard in the US.

If you're referring to the optional LOGIC 7 system, the amplifier here puts out a total of 420 watts of pure Harmon Kardon audiophile quality power.

It's truly one of the finest sound systems around for an 'installed' dealer arrangement. ENJOY.

Having upgraded from an E39 which had superb sound from the standard system, I didn't bother with the Logic 7. :'( My reaction to the E60's standard sound was a great disappointment! My old E39 was like a mid-range HiFi! Is there anything that can be done? Can you upgrade to Logic 7? Has anyone in the UK tried to upgrade? How much does it cost?

I think its the same spec as the std UK system (which doesn't really answer your question) its just the quality of the speakers that improves. Logic 7 is the complete system hence the extra cash required. Having had both systems (not L7) the HiFi is fantastic IMHO.

HiFi is the std US system.

Most if not all of the higher end aftermarket amplifiiers will do a better job than the L7 option that BMW offers. Not saying it's not good but I wouldn't call it "audiophile". I would talk to a local car audio dealer, one that specializes in higher end cars.

Did your E39 have the std system or was it upgraded (may have been on later models) because my 1997 e39's audio system was very average. The std system in my last e60 was much better. But my new cars HiFi blows that away.
If you want to upgrade just get the HiFi speaker system it sounds great especially the bass.

Harmon Kardon audiophile quality

This is an oxymoron. Harmon Kardon is nothing CLOSE to audiophile quality.

The Logic 7 system is an option in the US and is a great improvement over the standard system - I would not even consider the standard system.

I think the HK Logic 7 is good, but I would not say it is any better than the Bose system I have in my GMC.

I have considered looking into better amps but then I would probably just accelerate my hearing loss.

Jsal,

Please you're making me weep. I just paid ?355 ($700) to upgrade to your standard system. In the UK we have 3 systems - Std, Hifi (your std system) and Logic 7. Have pity on Europe please.

I love my system - the bass is well baaad Try the Fun Lovin Criminals - Scooby Snacks well loud
