I've a 2006 535D touring, with the M-Sport Paket (so with the sport bumper) and the removable tow hook. Nice to use, to set in place and to remove. There is a plastic cover to remove from the bumper, then you can insert the hook. When done with it, I just remove the hook and replace the cover.

Sure what you got? Std or aftermarket?

/out of interest who makes the cut in the bumper, how does it look on the MSport skirt?

Trying to find a shop that will do a professional job at creating the 'cut away' so that he doesn't have to do this

There's a separate diffuser cover for cars with the detachable tow bar (p/n 51127897216 vs -215 for the normal diffuser) and "trailer hitch flap" (p/n 51127897224) so I'd think no cutting would be required unless you were planning to DIY the conversion of your existing diffuser.
