yesss your right on the money...nooww like you said steptronic is chaning gears manually or until red line....and sport mode will shift at higher rpm or up to red line. So in essence isn't steptronic kinda the same thing as sport because you can also floor it till red line except ofcorse you have control on your shifting pattern.
Sport mode is NOT = Sport Package
What the Sport Package has to offer are usually different body kits, suspensions, and wheels for the car, not the transmission. So if you are worried that your car will be slower compared to the same car + sport package, its not. The only downside from missing the sport package is that your car's handling and suspension won't probably be as good as the sport's package one since the shocks are more soft and a few other features that the sport package has to offer that makes the ride feel more 'sportier' are missing.
