They are both great rides - I must admit the M is getting most of the seat time right now as I have to get past the 1200 mile break in and 1st service so I can open her up...but I had the 5 out just yesterday and was prepared to think that it would feel "pedestrian" after drivng the M so much...but not even close!! It still feels great, drives crisp and sporty and I dig it - BIG TIME It's a great ride too and I'll be driving them both for sure

2006 Mini Cooper S, manual, sports, prem pkg, nav and kitchen sink.
Great post, I would love to get your thoughts on whether you feel the M3 would be almost practical enough to be your daily driver. I currently drive an 07 550 with sports package and love the seats, I'm just not sure if I could live with seats not as comfortable.
