Driving the other day and my mirrors automatically start folding OUT (not in) and then I hear a loud crack!?!?!? After a few seconds, they reset to normal position. No visible damage but I know this is not normal. Taking my car in on Monday for other service issues...I have a laundry list of items. My '08 is definitely more reliable (so far) than my previous '04 but I'm approaching the 50K mark and will probably opt for the extended warranty and maintenance. Anyone else experience this with their mirrors?

How did you get 50K on your 08? I've got about 6K on mine. ![Wassat](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/wassat.gif)

Nah, not new!
This sometimes happens when the mirrors are iced up internally, they fold to face outwards, fold them back and they are fine.
Also happens if the mirror has hit knocked 'forward' when in the folded position, when you open it, it goes too far. Again fold them back then out again and they will be fine.
I'm sure BMW will decribe it as a 'feature'
My other Honda has the same 'attributes'
