Hello everyone,

I've been having a lot of trouble finding what the dealer's laundry list of repairs refer to.

Would any of you be able to help me?

I have a 5/2004 545i with the following:

1. rec valve cover gasket leaking
2. side cover gasket leaking
3. thrust rods are loose [are these control arms?]
4. battery safety terminal cable high resistance

I have looked up parts for these best I can, but have not been able to exactly identify what I can get/replace myself, or need a shop for. At least, if I know where they're located, I can look at them myself before going to a shop.

I believe #4 is in the trunk attached to the battery. See bright red BST on battery terminal in attachment. Sorry I don't know if this is easy to replace or if the dealer is referring to the cable attached to it. The BST can fail. Different years have different versions. The pic is a 08 535i
