Exclamation HELP!!! Tranny Issue

I'm a e60 owner think I'm having a tranny problem, when i come to a complete stop and accelerate the car picks up quickly but when your slowing down probably going into 2nd or 1st gear the car slams into either of those gears after quick acceleration and when slowing down and it also shakes when in 3rd or 4th gear at about 3000/4000 RPM going 30- 40 MPH and i have to shift it in DS mode then it stops shaking. 170 miles. I'm thinking i need to change the transmission oil and filter don't think it has been changed before got the car at 168 miles.

oil/filter + mechantronic valve, should fix your problem. Many others have the same issue, most likely your mechantroic valves are dying.

some members have had success by replacing the solenoids on the valve body of the trans.
then there is the saying, that if the fluid is real old, and you change it, that dirt and crud will get loosened by the detergents in the new fluid, and may cause valve body issues. but if you're having issues anyways, then change it, and maybe once again right after.

Thanks for your assistance guys do you think I should jus do the solenoids or just the whole mechatronic body which will probably need programming/coding

Think the solenoid will do the trick along with new oil+filter. If i am correct, the solenoid is the only part which deteriorates over time, of course along with mechantroic sealing sleeve and connector sleeve.

Hey there...Im from South Africa and have been a long time lurker on these forums. Got some really good advice and tips on here after swopping an e90 320i for a N52 523i in April this year. Thanks for that! Had the transmission issued and BMW eventually replaced the gearbox. Now I only have the hard changes while driving really slowly (stop/go) in peak traffic, and below 20 kph. Im taking the car back to the dealer tomorrow - a tech from ZF will be testing it. Hopefully I'll get the crankshaft sensor replaced, which according to an indy mechanic should sort out the problem.

^this, although there is no 100% guarantee that'll fix it. But I'd say the likelihood of this solving your problems is very, very high

solenoids, 4 sealing sleeves (they look like rubber tubes), bridge seal, new sealing sleeve for the Mechatronic, and new pan and fluids. Should run you about 1K for all of the parts. i made a pretty detailed thread on how to do it in the DIY section. Again, no guarantees this will fix it, but it has worked for a lot of us in the past. i ordered all of my stuff from thectsc.com. make sure you get the correct solenoid and bridge seals, as there are 'new' and 'old' versions of the 6HP19.

good luck
