Unhappy Help! One long beep every 30 seconds!

Please, someone have experience with this…

My 2004 545i has begun a very annoying habit: she beeps (not from the sound system, not the normal "chime") one long (about 1 second +/-) beep every 30 second!

I have no idea why this is occurring, and I have no idea how to make it stop!

The only alert on the OBC looks to be low washer fluid.

Please help! Someone…please…help!

Franko

Seriously annoying! Actually, I'd really like to know if this constant beeping is trying to alert me to a potentially serious problem!

Put on your seatbelt, it'll go away.
How do you expect someone to be able to help you when you don't provide any info? Have you checked your clock to make sure it's not the speed limiter or something else? How long have you had your car?

Got it, thanks.

So, I always wear my seatbelt when driving.

The long beep is occurring with the key out of the ignition. ...and it doesn't stop. I don't think it stops with the car running, but not 100% sure (3kids, lots of car pooling). I have had my 2004 545i since 2006. It is a manual, sport, winter package, premium audio...I have had it regularly serviced at my local dealer in Boulder, CO. I thought I may be due for an oil change, but my dealer and the on board computer both say no.

It is not the clock chime, not the speed limit chime, Not the temp chime, not a pdc type of sound. It does not come from inside the car/through the stereo speakers. It sounds more like the beep you hear when you lock the car, but longer...and every 30 seconds, continuously, with the key out of the ignition!

The only notice on the "clock" is one for low washer fluid, and nothing in the service/maintenance menu either!

Happy to answer ANY other Q's, as this is really annoying/frustrating/worrisome!

Thanks guys!

So, no Check Control iDrive alerts? And dealer found 'nothing'?? Does it sound like a seat belt chime? Maybe the passenger side thinks there is a passenger. Try fastening that seat belt to see if the chime silences.

On my Mercedes car, alarm has it's own battery. When the [alarm] battery is getting low, it'll beep.

Does the alarm on BMW has it's own battery?

You say the beep comes with the key out of the ignition, what about putting the key back in...?

Have you tried filling the washer fluid?

Default Key in, key out...doesn't matter

I just sat in my car to look at the OBC/warnings again - it is beeping (more like screeching rather than the pleasant "bonging" of the normal chime) both with the key out of the ignition, and with the accessories on (key turned partway on).

There is only the washer fluid warning, no others. Also all of the maintenance items (breaks, filters, oil etc) are all "ok".

I'll call my SA shortly, but crikey. Perhaps it IS a low batt alarm for the car alarm itself?
