My Ride: 2004 525i, 6-speed, sliver-gray metallic, premium package, professional navigation ... among other options
I have a 2004 E60 with pro nav (installed by the dealer after nav became available).
Just had the latest iDrive software update at the dealer.
Put a CD with MP3 files into the CD slot on the dash. Didn't work.
Does my car have the hardware to play MP3 files?
Do I have to use the DVD slot?

MP3 will become available on cars with nav in the USA after the new software will be installed that comes out soon. Wait for CIP 20.x
So far only brand new cars have MP3 ability or cars in EU with nav bus.

I'm a newbie looking to order a 530 after the first of the year. Does the 530 provide integration for iPod or other MP3 players or must I purchase the Nav system? I understand that the Nav system will play MP3 files on disk.
BTW this is really a great forum!
