I was driving on the highway last night And all of a sudden I hear why sounds like a jackhammer hitting under my car. Got out and looked under and there was this metal rod hanging and oil all around it looks like it connected to the diff. Long story Short having it towed to my shop tomorrow but want to know what I'm looking at here .
Will try to upload pics once I get on a computer. Ah only 15 days with the car and so far one problem.

Does part of it look like this? It's unusual for these to "break" - but cv joints (in the black rubber protective boots) can fail if they aren't serviced when they get noisy - but that typically doesn't happen until < 120K-150K miles. Does your car have high miles???

To have a CV joint just break is EXTREMELY rare but to have the joint start to give out is sort of normal after high mileage. I dont consider 150K high mileage either. If the knuckle breaks you'll see a sort of grease from the boot everywhere not oil. Perhaps you actually ran over something in the road and it punctured a pan? Did you notice any driving or handling dfifference or did you pull over right away?
You said your car wouldn't start afterward? Did it shut off or did you shut it off and then it wouldnt start?
Keep us updated because it's very interesting.
