I have the Dunlop runflats now. Replace with runflats or non-runflats? What tire do you all recomend? The runflats are pricey.

if you have less than 20k miles, you may be eligible for some free dunlop rf's. here's the memo.

I think they are all pricey. I replaced my run flats with Michelin PS2's. They were expensive, but they don't make as much noise as the run flats. Also the ride is smoother, I like them and would not go back to the run flats.

Thanks, I just got off the phone from calling around for tires. I can get a the ps-2's for $1195.00 OTD. I think that's a pretty good price. I hit a huge pothole last week and apparently bent two of my rims. Dealer says it's on the inside lip of the F-L and R-L. Says the front is the worst. Thankfully I bought the safe guard wheel warranty for $395.00 when I purchased the car and it looks like they will cover the rims, which is nice because the reaplcement cost for my chrome 124s are $500.00 each! OUCH! I'd say that 395 was money well spent.

nixter;
I would agree, $1,1195 is a good deal. At less than $300 a tire OTD you are getting a better price than I did ($344). I also hit a pothole, blew a tire and bent the rim. Almost $800 for the rim($434) and tire, that was an expensive ski trip.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2's

Ive hurled it round corners and theyve never lost it. No regrets whatsoever and they are lighter and better wearing than runflats too.

I had Eagle F1 GS-D3's on my 545 (and am about to get them on my 550). They are different to the regular Eagle F1. With their tread pattern they are totally resistant to tramlining, ride beautifully and are phenomenal in the wet. They beat the established favorite on here (the PS2) pretty convincingly in a Car and Driver performance tire test - but any of the top tires are going to be very good and a big step up from the stock run flats. The PS2's just overtook the F1 GS-D3 on Tire Rack's performance tire league table in the last couple of weeks but the F1 rating is based on nearly four times as many user miles as the PS2 which is testament to their quality. Incidentally, my 550 came with both RFT's and a spare so I'm comfortable with the switch to non-RFT's but I'm not sure I would do it without the spare. I have Bridgestone RE050A RFT's on the 550 and they're not too bad, but not in the same league as a good non-RFT.

I'm currently running Goodyear NCT5 RFTs - they aren't bad, but not great. They seem very hard-wearing though. Came with the car.

My next tyres will either be Michelin PS2s (had these on my old car, great tyre) or possibly Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s. I'm staying away from Continental, the SportContact M3s on my old E46 were total crap.

Nixter, do you mind saying where you got this price from?
