Thumbs down

Can any member here at the 5 series forum PLEASE tell me the correct steps on getting the flat tire monitor set? I go to the vehicles settings in my idrive and set YES for new tire presure while setting in idle position for five to ten minutes, and all it continue to say its "initializing" but that's far as it goes and the ! In the triangle next to drive setting in speedometer stays lit, and NEVER goes away!

Thanks in advance!!

After you press YES, you have to drive the car right away. Drive it for aproximatly 10 minutes or until the warning light goes away.

Each wheel has a TPMS sensor installed, tires with correct PSI 35F 38R. Reset and drive, takes 20 seconds. Never heard of 10 minutes?

I said "or until warning light goes away". might be less than 10 min, but more than 20 seconds for sure.

There are two types of tire pressure monitors on the e60. First is called FTM (Flat Tire Monitor) and was on the cars from 2004 - 2006 (US model years). Beginning in 2007, the system is called TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System).

FTM uses the anti-lock braking sensors to measure wheel speed at each tire. When a tire goes down, that tire spins faster than the others (think about it) and the system alarms of a low tire. It cannot tell you which tire is affected. You should manually check inflation to determine which is down.

With TPMS, pressure sensors are mounted inside each wheel and send the tire pressure reading to the computer. This system can tell you which tire is down in theory, but in my case I have FTM, so I do not know how the display is set up.

With FTM cars, you must initialize the wheel speeds in the computer when the tires are at correct pressure. This is the reason you must drive the car when re-setting the monitor.

TPMS on my 08 said my right rear was low, topped off the tire in the garage, warning went away after cranking car back up and before driving. Sounds like the OP has the FTM.
