My Ride: 2005 545i /w Sport pkg - SMG - Nav - Premium pkg - PDC - Ready to begin my modding! =)
Hi, well I am a transplant from the Audi world, I bought my first Beemer just 2 days ago. 2005 545i w/ SMG transmission, and so far I am extremely thrilled!!!! One thing is the front bumper has got to go!! I want to buy the M-tech M5 front bumper, does anybody know a good place to buy just the front bumper and associated parts at a good price???????
I dont really want the side skirts, and rear, and I have found the front advertized on Ebay for $1500, but I can buy the whole kit for a couple hundred more, whats the deal? I dont mind paying $700-800 for the parts, but I can imaging that front part be 80% of the costs of the entire package?!?!?!? Say it aint so??? =(
Looking for help, thanks for your replies.

My Ride: 2004 545i titanium grey 6 speed manual with light grey interior. Nav, L7, cold weather, sport, sat. Modifications: suede headliner, pianno black interior trim, Ipod dock, Mtech front bumper, Angel Eyes, and flat black kidney grills.
I did this retrofit to my 04 545i myself and can offer some advise. The bumper you want is the M- tech bumper not an M5 bumper. Also keep in mind that there are around 25 other parts you will need to do the job right. I will try to get you on the right track but you will need to do the rest of it on your own. You need to get a front bumper with or without PDC and headlight washer slots depending on what you have. Then you will need fog lights, fog light trim pieces, front mesh pieces for air dam, left right and lower air duct panels for radiator, temp sensor?, brake ducts, wheel well inserts, left and right lower splash panels, lower front engine cover ( bottom of motor, large), two mounting adaptors ( they extend front screw placement, and a few other things.
I would suggest getting the parts diagram for your car and for a new 550i sport( that comes with the m-tech kit factory ) and simply comparing the two charts to determine the parts that have different numbers. Good luck, hope this helps.

biggest difference between M5 front and mtech are the foglights, since the M5 bumper does not accomodate them. plus there are more fitting issues with an M5 front compared to an mtech front due to the front fenders. go for the mtech id say.
you sure about the sides and rear? member snikt21 when he had his 530 and just had the mtech front, then decided later on to go with the whole kit. just thought id mention
