LOOKING FOR SOME INSIGHT ON CHANGING MY CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR ON MY 2008 528I - FROM THE DIAGRAM THAT I HAVE THIS PARTICULAR SENSOR IS LOCATED ON DRIVER SIDE LOWER PART OF ENGINE CLOSER TO BACK WALL. IT APPEARS LIKE IT WOULD BE EASIER TO ACCESS FROM THE BOTTOM VS. THE TOP, LOTS OF PLASTIC SURGERY TO REMOVE
?
HAS ANYONE EVER REPL'D THIS PARTICULAR PART IN THIS CAR? ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL. - TRYING TO AVOID THE STEALERSHIP
THANKS.

Not sure where it is located on the 528i, but I just replaced mine on my 535i (N54 engine). Here was the DIY for the N54 engine, probably will be in a different spot for the 528i however. ![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)

Big Thanks Persian_535! Yes it's definitely a little different but this is very helpful - the hardest part seems to be reaching the darn sensor to remove & install the new one.

Hey Persian_535 big thanks again!!!!
The DIY you provided really helped me, and this repair was a simple plug & play. It was actually easier to reach from underneath, once you remove all the underbody protection it's not that hard to reach under the starter.
Just in case anyone has a similar issue resulting from a ODBII code of 0335 and other issues leading up to this repair:-
Here is the full history of my 2008 528i debacle:
- Battery failure (unknown origin) 1 week to diagnose Faulty Aux Fan $950.00 causing battery
drain.
- Intermittent "Overheating meassage" causing car to go in limp mode (re-start everything ok)
- Re-diagnose issue faulty "Electronic Water Pump & Thermostat" $1100.00 - everything
working fine for a +week. Ghost overheating/limp mode returns.
- My Indy recommends to go to "Stealership" for possible faulty replacement parts.
- After 1 week - Stealership diagnoses "Faulty DME" replaced for free
hard to believe I know.
- 2 weeks later car coded 0335 crankshaft sensor. Replaced myself and so far - so good.
