Right I've been having problems with fluctuating revs while driving. I've replaced the mass sensor, cleaned mapp.
After replacing the mass air flow sensor it was still the same, I unplugged it a drove a short distance to see if it made any difference, sadly no.
Obviously the engine management light came on with the maff being unplugged. So I plugged it back in but couldn't clear the fault until I was home.
So I'm driving around with the engine management light on with the maff plugged in and the car runs perfectly lol no fluctuations in revs at all, I get home clear the fault and its back again 🤔🤔 any ideas.
I've ordered BMW Carly for tomorrow

Make, model and mileage? You need to get a copy of INPA and install it on a laptop. It will save you a lot of headaches.
Its odd that you have the MAF plugged in and the MIL did not go away. Its a self correcting message.
With the lack of info no one will be able to help. You might need a software update or have a vacuum leak. Codes are needed to start diagnosis with BMWs

sorry mate yes it's a e60 525d m sport 2007 with 135k on the clock. I've only owned it a few months now.
I have inpa at home so will give it a scan tomorrow and post the results see if anyone can help.
Just strange the car was fine with the engine management light on 🤔
