Recently, my car's brake pedal is getting hard after parking for a few days. It's effectively like after you press the brake pedal a few times with engine off.

The dealer replaced check valve and it didn't help. Now the car is in dealership for problem re-confirmation.

Have you had similar problem on your E60?

i can see it being stiff if its parked out in the cold for a while, but should revert back to normal once you warm it up.
that's weird if it persists.

My problem goes away after engine start. It was just hard to press the pedal for engine start.

Are these hydraulic assist brakes....sounds as if you have a pressure leak down...hence the dealers replacement of the check valve?

I have that same phenomena in the morning during cold weather but after you start the engine it's all good.

that sounds like a pressure leak....its normal to have the brakes go hard with the engine off if you press it a couple of times cause it drains out the hydraulics without the engine running...

I have never had this problem on my other cars. I can park my 11 year old car for 3 weeks and it's still not hard. This problem on this car shows up recently during my 2 ownership.

I agree it sounds like pressure leak. I suspect it's brake booster.

My question was if this is common on E60.

No this is not common... Have your dealer fix it
