Help before I sell my beauty.
Hello and thanks for any advice given, and apologies if this ends up in the wrong section on the forum. I'm on my 3rd beemer and this could well be last as it's driving me mad. I have a 2005 525d m sport, auto, owned for nearly 6 months and feels as if it's been in and out of the garage for 4 of those.
The problem being when the car comes to idle the engine starts to hunt ( not all the time ) the rev needle fluctuates slightly, the car starts to shake, and blue smoke comes from the exhaust. I think it's been in the garage 3 times to resolve this and granted once the car is returned to me it does drive well, but then it slowly resorts back to the usual. At first you'll notice that the auto box is holding onto each gear just a little too long, then on idle a little murmur and then over the days and weeks the idle shake and smoke becomes more pronounced and more embarrasing.
The specialist garage have so far, checked, tested and cleaned the injectors twice, cleaned out the fuel tank, lines, filters, replaced glow plugs and actuator.
A mate mechanic (who hates working on beemers) helped clean up the maf sensor and checked the egr valve. He then noticed whisps of smoke coming from the top of injector 5, little tighten up with the spanner and it was good again for a few more days.
I'd ask my mate to help but thats no longer an option, plus i've spent well over £1500 @ the garage for no real results. If anyone can pass on any wisdom so to preserve my sanity then that would be truly appreciated.
Cheers
