You may not find the fluid specification in your manual. However, some use ATF and others use the more expensive specialty hydraulic fluid sold under the Pentsoin brand - they must not be mixed! Suitable substitutes can often be bought for a lower price at VW/Audi Dealers! Just be sure to get the correct spec fluid.

The cap of your fluid reservoir may be stamped with the type required. BTW, manuals are on-line in the info section of the forum.

I got the same warning twice. I pulled over, turned the car off and turned it back on, and it didn't show again. I guess i'll check the fluid tomorrow.

idk what brand of fluid is in mine and i get the same message if i don't let if warm up for more than 10 min on cold morning after a left turn. does it matter if the fluid is mixed and matched?

i think i got that same message once when my battery was about to go or i think it was the power/active steering message... it went away though after i turned off the ignition and removed the key and reinserted/restarted
