a long story short, my brand new car battery wont keep a charge. all interior lights, alarm and night settings were left off overnight. the alternator was checked and ok. what could cause this???

thanks

some more info that may help: battery was tested and is fine. i kept the car in the garage for a week and it started up just fine and decided to leave my car outside in my driveway overnight and the battery was dead. I can easily jump it in the morning and it will start threwout the day but not the following morning.

hmm something is drawing a lot of power and not turning off properly when the car goes to sleep. I'd make a list of all electrical mods done to the car since you got it and go through them step by step.. perhaps you can locate what's causing this.

If your charging system output is better than 12V at idle, your battery may not be able to hold a charge. It is not unusual for a battery to show OK and even show 12v when checked with a VOM.

But it only takes one bad cell to prevent the same battery to stay sufficiently charged even just overnight.
