hello guys,

Long story short, I bought style 166 rims from a member on this forum and I just balanced and installed on my car yesterday, however its still vibrate at 50mph and above. Anyone have an answer to this problem? can I use my original bolts for these rims? or I need special bolts to use 166 rims? and what could cause this vibration?

any help will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you needed them to be road-force balanced which should eliminate the problem.

I have the same wheels and the same car and no special bolts req'd.

1) Get the wheels road force balanced. BMWs are bitchy with balancing!

2) Maybe one or more of the wheels is bent?

3) Check the tyres too. Sometimes even new tyres are not completely round and that can be seen when spinning the wheel in a balancing machine. If you find an unround tyre, the first thing you can do is to spin the tyre on the wheel 180° (like you turn a steering wheel) and then inflate it again and rebalance the wheel. This may solve an issue with a tyre that is not completely round.

Some aftermarket wheels are not hubcentric for E60s. You need to make sure the rim's the center bore size is 72.6mm. If not, then you need to add hubcentric rings. That could be the reason for vibration.

Its the original OEM m5 rims Advan gold power coated , so I think there's only one center bore size right? anyway thanks for the input guys, ill go get the road force balance tomorrow.

Absolutely - BMW's absolutely require a spot-on high speed balance!

Your original post didn't say OEM. Sellers/Vendors sometimes use "Style" to describe their aftermarket rims. Anyway, hope the road force balancing will fix the problem for you.

I concur. Road Force Balance with the Hunter GPS9700. It's the ONLY way to go, don't take the cheap route, you'll only regret it.

Are you sure these are OEM wheels? Make sure you do check the center bore.

thanks everyone for the input. I road force balanced them couple of weeks ago, and the shop said I got three slightly bent rims, fixed them and the problem is gone now.
