BMW 530D Auto Transmission Failure
Hi guys, unfortunatelly something bad happend
The car was running fine, everything was okay. I've stopped for 10-15 minutes and after I started the car there were fault message for the ABS, Active Steering, DSC, Dynamic Drive - all these lights came up on the instrument cluster, along with the TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
I'm not sure if the problem is in the transmission itself, or somewhere in the CAN communication because as I said all the above warrnings were on the cluster. Also the spedometer didn't work, only the RPM meter, no iDrive, no Radio, no power windows, no air conditioning - nothing with the car started, but when the ignition is on - everything works.
I've removed the negative connector of the battery and after a few minutes I reconnected it and everything was okay. I'll check for specific error messages with INPA and I'll write them down. In the mean while can you throw some suggestions? Is it the Torque Converter?

+1. Yup. Do a search. When your dash lights up like a rougue xmas tree, chances are a voltage issue is the cause. Chances are high it is a battery voltage problem, possibly caused by the wonderful intermittent actions of a failing alternator (been there, done that). If it is the ole Alty, at some point you'll be motoring along nicely. You'll notice your iDrive may start turning on and off. Audio may get sporadic. Then you'll start getting the dreaded "Bling" warnings (some if so equipped): Abs, Active Steering, Ars, dynamic drive, and, usually finally, transmission warning and gear lockup. Keep driving and things go dark as the car keeps systematically shutting down electrical systems so you can keep rolling. Eventually, the party comes to an end when there simply isn't enough juice to keep the plug voltages, fuel pump, and ecu powered. Shutting down, waiting 10 minutes, then restarting usually gave me enough reserve voltage for a start attempt, at which point the alternator usually decided to awaken and, well, alternate lol. There is also a 20 buck charge control relay in the fuse panel above the battery. If it is indeed the Alternator, its wise to replace the relay as well. A bad battery will give you xmas trees before starting, but usually smooth sailing when running as the alternator struggles to keep up enough voltage to power the car and supply charge power to the batt. Good luck!

Thank you very much guys! First I was confused, way the trani failure and all other things, then I decided that there is something with the CAN communication.
The interesting thing was that with ignition ON everything was fine, but immediately after starting the car the idrive, sound and etc were all gone and the transmission faliure was on the cluster and I think the locked gear was 3th.
I'll start monitoring the voltage in the car, hopefully if there is a problem it will be in the alternator not in the transmission.
When I read the errors I'll poste them. Fingers crossed

UPDATE:
You guys were both right - there was a high voltage - 16-17 volts.
Most of the modules accross the car recorded fault codes for the voltage problem. Now the cars drives perfect, I'm monitoring the voltaga in the hidden menus and it is 14v, 14.2v.
I've found a different code in the GEARBOX IM (5118 InfoCounter1 - EGS-Reset) and I have no idea what it is?
The next step will be to buy a new relay (the one located behind the alternator) and replace it. As I'm familiar this should solve the high voltage problem, right?
Thank you for your fast reaction. I'll keep updating the thread with eventual problems and how I resolved them.
Here are some of the fault codes I've already deleted.

Sounds like your voltage regulator is acting up. Voltage spikes that high can fry your electronics! The regulator is integrated into the alternator. It may be prudent to simply replace the alternator with a new/factory spec refurb unit.

It is very wierd, how it wasn't working properly and after a reset everything is okay. I'm going to replace it asap, but at the dealer it is not available and I need to order it.

The error above your EGS(tranny ECU) reset its hearbeat timer, not a problem. But monitor the voltage and see if it's actually a problem. None of us knew that when buying an E65, E60,E90, E80 chassis family that the vehicles come gremlins

Yesterday after the reset (with unpluging the negative connector) the charge was 14-14.2 volts. This morning I was getting high 14 and some times 15, 15.1 volts. The thing I notice that it not stable it jumps from 13 to 15, but mostly it is around 14.6-14.8v. So I'm guessing that the voltage regulator is having some problems. Probably the charge should be stable 14 or mid 14.
I was thinking for another issue with the sensor which measures the voltage, but after the morning drive I'm 99% it is the voltage regulator.
