I've only had my E60 for 4 months and its starting to get cold here in San Diego. I was wondering... Is turing the temp setting button all the way to the right the hottest you can go? For some reason it just doesn't seem very hot to me. Sorry for the somewhat newbie question.

PS. I know cold to us here in southern cali is 50 degrees.

If you go to the climate settings in your idrive you will see the fan speed setting. If the color is blue it will put out cold air, so turn the controller until it goes to the red fan settings and you will get warm air. hope this helps!

I can't believe you need heat in san Diego! I just found this out last week myself because I had someone in the back seat complaining that I had the AC on and it was only 20 degrees out here in sunny Connecticut.

Haha... Well my girlfirend gets cold very quickly. I usually only need the heater in the mornings when its about 45 degrees out. The rest of the day its 72 and sunny!

Ha, back when my wife lived in Pensacola, Florida, she was pissed when she couldn't find a car at the dealership that had heated seats.

I've tweaked the heater settings and still cannot get the middle vents to shoot out HOT air FAST. The car itself gets quite warm, but when it's really cold, I like to drive with the windows open (I love the cold fresh air), but like to have the vents blasting hot air. I just can't get the car to do this?! I have everything turn up to "red", have the setting on "intensive", it's like I'm missing something really basic ...

Probably so, along with the top down on the convertible.

You have the fan set all the way up for what would be directed to the upper body? If we're describing the same thing and you've already done that, I guess it's just the way it was designed. I too have noticed that the upper vents don't blow much hot air, but I don't have the settings up all the way.

On a related note, BMW has studied a lot of data, and it is suggested that a driver is more likely to be alert if their upper body is slightly colder than the rest of their body. So, it is not suprising that the climate system is biased in this way.
