one of the primary reasons i got the 5 series back in 04 is because of the heated steering wheel (don't laugh)! i love this feature, it is so driver minded unique.
only a winter driver can understand, combining with heated seats i don't even need regular heating (warm air too dry).
i like to drive with the roof in tilited 'open' position in winter, it feels like skiing in a greenhouse, especially at night when -10C and snow.

i hate to order my next e60 without it, but i also want the M look....more.
why do we (consumers) have to decide on these while spending $$$!!!

I had the story confirmed from a high ranking Munich' official: they just don't want to combine the sport and the comfort thing: thus (till now) NO heated wheel combined with M, NO afs combined with M
just the short sighted stubbornness you would expect from a german carmaker..

Which seems bizarre when the Porsche Cayenne (the company who won't do diesel) can come with a heated steering wheel !

If brochures are to be believed it looks like there is a heated sport steering wheel with the 2007 E60 Sports Package. I could not post the picture but in the Information section of this website there is a pdf version of the 2007 Sales Brochure. Go to page 6 I believe and there you will see a side shot of the sport wheel with the buttons for heating.

the sport steering is indeed heated, just like mine now.
BUT
the Msport steering wheel (looks very similar) is not heated.

sports package here in canada is different than the M sport package, they are 2 different things.

Didn't the E39 M5 have a heated wheel? I'm pretty sure it was available.

As a Canadian, I also was sad to learn the M-package didn't have a heated wheel, but I love the feel and look of the wheel (see my avitar). Buy yourself a really nice pair of driving gloves as a consolation.

all M including e39 M5 has NO heated steering wheel.
At least here in Canada is true, maybe not in Europe or US.
