Out of $15,000 plus I spent on options the heated seats are at the top, I was told I would not need them in so. cal. I was told wrong even in 40 degree weather they are worth having they are my wifes favorite part of the car and if she is happy I am happy

Up here in Winterland, the heated seats option was a requirement! The heated steering wheel is a nice addition as well. Too bad the little bugger to turn this on is hidden behind the wheel itself - makes it difficult with gloves. And while I'm complaining , I wish both the seats and wheel didn't reset to off after you turn off the ignition. For six months out of the year, my driving ritual is:
1. Press keyfob to unlock door
2. Put key into ignition and turn
3. Push iDrive to accept stupid warning
4. Push seat heater ON
5. Grope steering wheel to turn ON wheel heater
6. Pull parking brake to off
7. Put tranny into D or R.

Lotta work, eh?

If you leave your car shortly it should remember your last seat heating setting..

That's what it does in my car anyway!

Well, 2000 when I ordered my VW Jetta, I had to make sure I had the Cold Weather Package, which had the 5-stage Heat seaters, although being here in California I knew it wasn't necessary but got it anyways. For me the heated seats were used not very often, but I can say when my back would hurt the heated seat would definitely help ease the muscle. My Fiance loves them and uses them almost all the time she gets in.

However I am not going to get the option this time around, I feel for $250 more I can use the HUD option much more, but the heated seats are a good option.

Peace

The HUD is nice also, My steering wheel blocks out the speedometer so I depend on HUD for speed

In Canada, the heated steering wheel and seats are standard, that's because it's so cold you freeze your A** off. Literally, really.

Before I ordered my 545i I asked the same Q to this group, and the answer was "Get it"! Now that I "got it", I agree, even in San Diego. I've never had a heated wheel before - very nice!
