OK, I've ben away from the forum for a while (quite a while).
I do remember that there was an issue with some heated seats and some burnt pants, etc.

I had an issue a few months back. It smelled bad (no, it wasn't me) etc.
My SA said that the heated seat recall didn't affect my car.

WELL... A week ago I activated the heated seat. A few minutes later I smelled something really bad in the car (once again - not me).

I pulled over and the driver's seat has what looks to be a cigarette burn. (I don't smoke, well... only when I'm on fire).

Has there been any resolution to the toaster cable seats??

I had a 04 525d, that had a fire. It completely destroyed the car, the incident was traced to the underneath of the drivers seat.

I had the car throughtly investigated, as BMW did not wish to comment! The conclusion was inconclusive but the case still remains open,in the hope others surface with time. The black box in the car recorded three fuses blowing half ahour after is was locked, and the glass had been blown out all over my path. It was a very frustrating time, I had to claim on my insurance for a replacement car!

My car had no heated seats.BUT was a 04 like yours.

My 04 E60 had a seat heater recall before I purchased the car. Climate is mild in the Pacific NW, level 3 is still pretty darn warm.
