My Ride: 2008 550i, Carbon Black Metallic with Black Dakota Leather, Sport Package, Sport Automatic Transmission, NAV, Cold-Weather Package, Folding Rear Seats, Rear Side Impact Airbags, Sirius, iPod/USB Adapter,
Model Year: 2008

Recently on my '08 550i I have been hearing 4 bells going off on the dash. The sound is not the chime one hears when there is some sort of notification. This appears to be random and does not relate to notification of exceeding a predetermined speed setting. I have heard the bells very intermittently sometimes after an hour of driving.

Any guesses as to what the sounds are for?

Thanks

Seems like a set up but I'll bite - its your clock telling you that the hour is about to change. It does this every hour at HH:59:55, chimes four times, then a beat, then presto, its the next hour HH:00:00 and it does it again next hour.

No set up, really. Can that be turned off, I have not experienced this before last week

I think you can turn it off in idrive somewhere, search around for "hour chime" in settings and uncheck it. My car is at the detailers so I can't go play with it and find out exactly where it is.

Yep, that did the trick, I had inadvertently checked the hour memo. Thanks for the help.
