headliner sagging

To my dismay, I saw that the headliner fabric in my E60 is becoming disconnected from the backing. When I bought the car in 2012 it was localized to a single spot above the drivers visor; now its in big sections all over the place. As much as I still love this car, I sometimes forget that it's now 12 years old. As long as I've been driving BMWs, the first thing I do when something fails is to see if there's an upgrade available. Basically I have two questions:

1. Anyone else have this problem in their E60? I know it's not uncommon for BMWs of this age to have headliners let go.

2. I know that M5s shipped with anthracite headliners. My car has a grey interior. Does anyone have any pics of a grey interior E60 with an anthracite headliner in it? Were the A,B,and C pillar trims also covered in anthracite on the M5?

Thanks, I'll be sure to follow up to this post after I figure out what I'm going to do with it, i.e. recover in original grey color or change it over to anthracite.

My Msport came with the Anthracite headliner, but I have black leather so thats not helping you... I can tell you that the upper half of the pillars are covered in a fabric material matching the anthracite color. My A pillars near the dash are loose a bit and bunching up. I have seen a thread hear how to fix that so I'm not worried yet.

Also, looking at the option sheet for mine, the Msport with Anthracite option did not limit the color choice of the interior. It did limit exterior color though.. So theoretically there are grey interiors with anthracite out there.

Perfect, that actually helps me out a lot. Thanks for the response :)

Nothing yet, I'm still working with someone I know who has a potential donor car sitting in a tow lot having the title sorted out. If it works out like I hope, I'll be poaching that headliner and recovering it myself with some sort of grey colored material, probably alcantara.

Mine was sagging on the a pillars, so i found a deal on ebay brought m5 alcantara full inside with rear window blind, installed and wired up blind made stock car look more expensive in a couple of hours, aboit 1200 dollars

I'm attempting a fix to the saggy ass headliner today. Ill take some pictures maybe a few videos.

I looked into taking the headliner out and fixing it, but that seems like an awful amount of work to get the headliner out of the car.

I started a new thread
Ohainey Fix - Saggy Ass Headliner Repair without removing (we hope)

Wish Me Luck, I'm going in.
