Knob is alive?

I for one still don't get it. Does the headlight switch on the US 545i push in and pull out?--and for safety?--what kind of safety?--so no one hits his or head on it???? If I was close enough to the dash for my knees to hit it, then my head woudl be sticking through my steering wheel (slight exaggeration, but ...) Mine always has been out. I tried briefly to push it in. It did not budge. I quess I could try a hammer.

I started this topic and so many answers and no answer at all. So there is no easy way to push it inside and we don't know why or what that brings (some feature). What security reasons? If I pushed it in with my knee (as someone suggested) and I am not able to push it again with my hands ... what a non sensible knee I have.

[/quote] I guess your knee is a risk taker and hit the knob very hard. How did it feel? Sorry, just my silliness coming out once again.

Possibly already pushed in . . . . Try pulling it out.

Thanks. That's a good idea, maybe. I though it must already be out since it is not flush. How far does it stick out beyond flush when it is out? Or, alternatively, when it is in is it flush?

Well it is not a easy push in, it takes some force. It IS an easy pull put. I tried it several times today. I leave mine in. And no, the knee will not reach it easily under normal conditions. The many be some real short folks that might get close. I think it is more accident related and if hit it would go in and maybe that is what it is for. Leave it out as it is easier to use, but it can be used either way.
