Headlight washers?
#1
I used my windshield/windscreen washers today and also noticed that the headlight washers (part of the cold-weather package) were working.
The strange thing was that the headlight washers were spraying up onto the hood and also the winshield. My dealer's service advisor said that is normal.
It sure seems that spraying up onto the hood is not normal. Is this how it works on other's cars with the headlight washers?

Yes, my headlight washers do the samething. I guess it has to do with pressure of the sprayers that cause it to overspray the hood and windshield.

Yes, it is normal. If you look at the position of the sprayers, they are below the headlights. So therefor, they spray up. This blasts the grime off of the headlights. Since normally you would be using them and/or the windshield cleaner when there is snow or other contaminates in the air, it really should pose no problem.

Yep, normal. I had the same on a different brand.
There is too much pressure in the system and they are so close to the head lights that the spray will be on your hood too. If going fast enough thge spray will also be on your windshield. How much pressure there is in this system you can notice when it's dark. The light from the headlights are getting darker for a second, while you spray on them... Nothing to worry about...

Slightly OT. They work as a great irritant when someone is riding your bumper.
The extra spray will get the car behind you quite well.
Just be sure that your headlights are ON. (fog lights OFF of course - sorry just had to throw that one in)

You know, I used to see this working on my car before I went in for a software upgrade (the emissions recall). I swear I have not seen the headlights sprayed ever since.
I searched but could not find what the frequency or how the car had to be set for this to work.
