after two weeks waiting for my car (04 530i) from the dealership i finally got her back this afternoon. reason was adaptive headlights stopped working, and also eyebrows were out, and also the cd player is still spinning even the key is out. i thought this was just a SW issue, but yadi yadi yada.. they changed the light control module, changed my cd CHANGER, and totally replaced my LEFT HEADLIGHT ($1165)!! good thing i have extended warranty. they said that the motor was busted. anyways, i couldnt really check my lights since its the middle of the afternoon.. its around10pm and i just got back from a test drive, now the newly installed headlight (LEFT) seems to project lower. probably half-car length difference (in terms of projection). should i bring this back or is this something DIY/DIMyself?

Sounds normal. By design the left (drivers side assuming you are in north america) headlight aims lower to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. You probably have never seen the headlight working correctly to notice this is my assumption.

thanks. yes im located NA. the left headlight beam is unusually low though. i understand that adaptive headlight does not swivel much to the left and not to blind oncoming traffic however its kinda awkward driving with unbalanced headlight, left beaming like 25 feet while right is like 40 feet. i will double check with my SA on monday and ask whats her take with this. thank you much with your output. appreciate it.

Same thing on my 'O4 530 with the headlight. I noticed it was lower after I had the left one replaced. They forgot to adjust it. I did it myself because I didn't want to go all the way back. It shouldn't be noticeablely lower.

If I had to do it again , I would hhave the dealer do it.

I actually did it myself to readjust the headlight to aim a little higher, now i can see perfect. its really easy, just need a hex tool. really easy.
