My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.

Will a non-xenon LCI headlamp (is there such?) assembly fit a non LCI 530i? My headlamps are starting to turn yellow, and what UV protective film that's left is starting to crack. In my opinion it really makes the care look unkept and old (even though it is).

Exactly, the thread I found was --> https://5series.net/forums/index.php...pic=57221&st=0 I'm thinking a full restore is in the works this weekend. Worse case, if I mess them up I'll just buy some new headlamps.

So I'm a little stoked here... Here's what my headlamps looked like today before 6:30 PM EST August 13, 2009.
You can see all the stone chips, yellowish, and cracking of the UV protective layer around the eyebrows. It was a lot worse to look at under normal day light - I thought it was pretty bad. So my $24 solution, as mentioned from the aforementioned links.

The BEFORE:

After some wet sanding with 1500 & 2000 Grit paper

END RESULTS

Even the angle eyes look brighter...

I love the information that available on this forum! You all rock!

damn, looks awesome.
my only concern is that somewhere i heard that you lose the uv protection of the plastic, if you sand it. is this true?

Very valid concern. Don't know if it's true or not, but I also would not suggest doing this if your current headlamps are not cracking or fading yellow. Mine were, and now they look so much better. I'm sure what UV was there isn't any longer, and now that it's gone I'll have to put down some was every time I wash as an added barrier. We'll see how long that lasts for... If anything I delayed the replacement of new headlamps. Meanwhile I'm starting look for something that will provide some UV protection so I don't have to wax them every time I wash.
