Hi,

Just decided to check my CIP version via I-Drive and read off the following: I03-12-500 VOM1. After looking at the posted CIP list mine falls BELOW CIP 10.0   Is there anybody out there with older CIP and can you tell me exactly what my car is running? Also some of the original members(HELP RUDY) might be able to help me with any reason to get this upgraded. My car runs perfect and haven't read of any reason to upgrade the CIP but hoping some of you out there might confirm this. Would hate the thought of leaving the car as it is and later on in life finding out my cherished BMW could of benefited from a CIP upgrade.

To answer the question you posed in the subject line of this thread...You do!

If your software is that old, there should be a million things you can complain about that'll get it upgraded. There's no question that an update would be a "no-brainer" as the first step to resolving your complaints.

Read through the following thread and I'm sure you'll find something that was fixed in software that is not working properly on your car:

Good luck...

Since my car was at the dealer, I asked to be upgraded to v25. I was told that it was on an as needed basis ie: idrive knob spinning. Well. I told them about my CD problems and they agreed to do the upgrade. Funny thing is that I don't even own a single CD.

The changes between a CIP 10 and the current software would be too numerous to mention. Just get it done and see all the changes. I think the thread I linked you to earlier contains listings of the fixes/changes but if not, there are plenty of other topics here that go over some of the stuff that's been changed...
