I just saw it posted on E90Post that a vendor is selling the maps for download onto your USB stick, you then stick it into your glovebox USB port, he provides you some magic code your car will ask for, and VOILA!

You get updated 2014 maps.

I read back a few pages and found no posts on it. It's not possible to search for 3 character things like CIC or NAV unfortunately...

Yes, I have done that on my 2010 E60 CIC. The map data and the FSC code can be purchased from the same vendor or from two separate vendors. The CIC map data update for "Road Map North America Premium 2013-1A" completed in about 45 minutes.

Thanks for the reply. So you have to leave the ignition (not the engine) on the whole time? That is what I had read. If that's the case I will have to hook up my battery charger

Yes, ignition on. DRL, climate, and accessories off. Battery charger connected. Prior to updating, battery was fully charged as well.

why do I have to pay for my FSC code? Shouldn't I have this code already?

Not on the 04 e60. The 04 had the CCC not the CIC (which i believe is in 2010 e60's). The CIC is disc based navigation if you have it.

No. It is a code generated specifically for your VIN # & version of maps you are installing

There are many on the internet who can sell you this code for $50 or less

Did USB even exist back in 2004? That's like 10 years ago!
